The Liturgy of the Word
Family or friends, if they are able, are encouraged to do these readings. The Word of God brings hope and consolation. At the funeral Mass we have two readings; the first is from the Old Testament (A) and the second from the New Testament (B). The Readings are not to be read from photocopies. A book will be prepared for you.
Offertory Gift Bearers
Family members or friends are invited to carry up the gifts of bread and wine. This is another liturgical expression of love for the deceased.
Words of Remembrance
Words of Remembrance may be read at the start of the funeral. It must not exceed 5-7 minutes in length. Another option would be to do a eulogy at the time of visitation or at the repast.
Assistants
We have assistants in our funeral ministry who will be available to read or take up gifts if the family is unable to do so.
Music Selection
Enclosed please find the guidelines for music selection along with suggestions for the funeral. Our Music Ministry Director will be happy to assist you.
